The Heritage Park 7.8-acre park was dedicated to the preservation of San Diego’s Victorian architecture. Expansion downtown after WWII threatened these structures with demolition on their original sites. Public and private funds paid for the acquisition, relocation, and restoration of these buildings. Heritage Park is owned by the County of San Diego and redeveloped by Pacific Hospitality Group (PHG), which also operates the the successful Hacienda Hotel-Old Town just across the street. The plans for Heritage Park include restoration of 7 current buildings and additional Victorian Homes to be used as Historic Inn’s and Bed & Breakfasts.
Heritage Park included: Senlis Cottage (1896), Sherman-Gilbert House (1887) , Christian House (1889), Bushyhead House (1887), McConaughy House (1887), Burton House (1893) and the Temple Beth Israel (1889).
